REGULAR LINE, established in 2013, is an ongoing project run by the Multimedia space for contemporary culture Nastupiste 1-12 (Platform 1-12), based in Slovakia.
The project is a residency program for Slovak artists to work in situ and collaborate with local artists in foreign countries and vice versa. First Regular Line was the Sheffield (UK) - Topolcany (Slovakia) cooperation with the British art organization BLOC Projects in 2013.
Based on its success Platform 1-12 adapted the project to include additional locations in year 2014: Regular Line Linz – Topolcany and Regular Line Topolcany - Santa Cruz.
In 2015 Regular Line will be presented in Europe (Poznan, Berlin, Oslo, Copenhagen, Vienna and Bratislava) and USA (San Francisco).
Platform 1-12 is a civic association whose members are several artists, graphic designer, psychologists, activists and cultural managers. It was founded in 2011. The key project of the association is Platform 1-12, the multimedia space for contemporary culture opened for the public in the underpass beneath the bus station in Topolcany, Slovakia. The space itself offers a platform to present arts, cultural and educational workshops and lectures in a unique attempt to recycle the public space.
At the same time the organization directly supports the creation of works of young national and international artists. They also develop the cross-board cooperation with partners from UK, Austria, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Poland and USA within the project of international artist exchanges and collaborations "Regular Line".
Platform 1-12 participated with two projects in a collective exhibition "Asking Architecture – The Pavilion of Czech and Slovak Republic” at 13th International Architecture Exhibition of la Biennale di Venezia, "Common Ground“.
In 2013, Platform 1-12 has been awarded the MOST Award for the best project by Youth Council of Slovak Republic. The same year Platform 1-12 became part of the team for site-specific installations for European Capital of Culture, Kosice and for Amsterdam Light Festival, Holland.
In 2015 the project was awarded Special Prize for best Slovak community project by Orange Foundation.
